- Pre-shampoo- this is basically applying a conditioning/treatment to the hair prior to shampooing/washing so as to help add moisture the the follicles. i did mine by applying the hot oil treatment using extra virgin olive oil and grapeseed oil, the night before washing my hair.
shed hair after taking down my braid extensions.
- washing: i first saturated my hair with diluted apple cider vinegar to help remove product buildup from wearing braids for almost 5 weeks.
i shampooed all my hair without putting them in sections since my hair is not even ear length or shoulder length to put into sections.
- i towel dabbed the excess water before applying my homemade mayo/egg/honey deep conditioner.
i finger detangled before using wide tooth comb to complete the detangling, i made sure not to over comb, then covered it with a plastic bag and let it sit for about 2 hours.
- rinsed: i rinsed with cold water and also rinsed with black tea. and i let it air dry.
- results:my hair was clean and happily fresh and wash and there was less breakage than what i normally experience. the detangling process was my least favorite as my back hurts so bad from bending over and trying to run my fingers through my hair.
It took over 5 hours to complete the whole process, i can imagine what people with longer hair have to go through each wash day, because i was really exhausted from washing my very short ear length hair.
i pray and hope all my hard work will pay off.
Yea, 5 hours is a long time. It takes me a while to wash my hair as well. All of Sunday morning is dedicated to hair washing.

thanks dear!!
Deletei have not tried it but will try looking into it.
This is my stop!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to change from permed to natural hair. I even cut my hair. Its growing up well this time around though. Presently I'm wearing sewed in dreads so i don't condition and wash as often or, should I?
lol!!!
Deletemy dear pls make sure you wash, condition and moisture it very well. sewed in dreads was one of the reasons am in this hair story. it broke my hair so bad that i could not even believe it. i was loosing hair by large lumps when i finally took them down.
Great tips babes... I just discovered the black tea here on your blog.
ReplyDeletethanks sugar. it really made my hair soft, i could believe it.
DeleteNice post! Glad you had less breakage. My wash days take a long time too. I usually have to be well-rested and fed before I start. :) Keep it up!
ReplyDeletethank you sis!!
Deletemy dear i was so tired, i guess its because i never used to care this much about my hair. i would just wash them with shampoo and that was all.
I noticed that you didn't state that you used any leave in conditioner or moisturize and seal and you also didn't use any moisturizing deep conditioner. I thought that after applying protein treatment it is advised to do a moisture based deep conditioning treatment too, to balance out the hardening of the hair that usually results after the protein treatment.
ReplyDeleteAlso when i do black tea rinse it makes my hair kind of stiff and has really helped me with my shedding, how come it makes your hair soft? How do you do you tea rinse? Maybe i am doing something wrong.
i didn't use any leave-in conditioner on my wash day, but i do it during the week to keep my hair moisturized. and yes i did use a conditioner after my protein treatment and poured a cup of cold brewed tea and let it sit before rinsing it out.
Deletethis is a great blog, because every time I take my hair extension out I have so much hair that comes out.
ReplyDeletethanks dear for visiting!!
DeleteOh dear, I am really a natural hair rebel. I just do not have the patience to do all these. I need to learn ooo!
ReplyDeletemy sis i real tried to be patient this time around and my whole back was aching like no man bizness.
